Overview of Equine Gastroduodenal Ulceration

Just as the term colic describes a clinical presentation and encompasses a large number of disorders, gastroduodenal ulceration describes a clinical finding, the cause of which is likely to be multifactorial and different from case to case. Within the umbrella term gastroduodenal ulceration are included symptomatic and asymptomatic cases, focal or multifocal ulceration involving the squamous or glandular mucosal linings of the stomach, gastritis, gastric emptying disorders, duodenitis, duodenal ulceration, and complications resulting from these disorders.
